Watch out for the "Watchman Decree"

The Watchman Decree was written by Christian Nationalist Gene Bailey.

It was recited here, leading the congregation here to do likewise, by:

Hank Kunneman, Lance Wallnau, Dutch Sheets, Mario Murrillo and Gene Bailey.

(Funny - no women).

These are popular "prophets" in the New Apostolic Reform movement, which has veered into 7 Mountains Dominionism, particularly since Trump, Qanon and the pandemic.

But the seeds of white supremacy, masqueraring as patriotism, masquerading as fervent Christianity, have been there in white American evangelicalism all along.

It degenerates into fervent chants of "You Ess Ayy! You Ess AYY!"

It is eerily similar in vibe to Hitler's rallies.

"Wild Enthusiasm at Nuremberg"

I have two reasons for not wanting a "Christian nation":

1. I don't want to have religious/spiritual bullying/domination towards those who aren't Christians on my conscience

2. We will end up with a fake, powerless and watered down Gospel that relies on political power and cultural supremacy instead of the truth of the Gospel and the life-healing, life-giving power of the Holy Spirit.

I don't want the bloodshed and violence of 1.

and

I don't want the counterfeit of 2.

Here is the transcript:

Below, I will give my rebuttal. It's .... different.

Watchman Decree - by Gene and Teri Bailey

"As a patriot of faith, I attest my allegiance first and foremost to the Kingdom of God and the Great Commission. Secondly, I agree to be a watchman over our nation concerning its people and their rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. (Photo of Gene and Teri Bailey)

WHEREAS:

• We, the Church, are God's governing Body on the earth.

• We have been given legal power and authority from Heaven.

• We are God's ambassadors and spokespeople over the earth.

• Through the power of God, we are His world influencers.

• Because of our covenant with God, we are equipped and delegated by Him to destroy every attempted advance of the enemy.

WE MAKE OUR DECLARATIONS:

1.      We decree that America's executive branch of government will honor God and defend the Constitution.

2.      We decree that our legislative branch (Congress) will write only laws that are righteous and constitutional.

3. We decree that our judicial system will issue rulings that are biblical and constitutional.

4. We declare that we stand against wokeness, the occult and every evil attempt against our nation.

5. We declare that we now take back our God-given freedoms, according to our Constitution.

6. We declare that we take back influence at the local level in our communities.

7. We decree that we take back and permanently control positions of influence and leadership in each of the Seven Mountains.

8. We decree that the Blood of Jesus covers and protects our nation. It protects and separates us for God.

9. We declare that our nation is energy independent.

10. We declare that America is strong spiritually, financially, militarily and technologically.

11. We decree that evil carries no power, authority or rights in our land, or over our people.

12. We decree that we will operate in unity, going beyond denominational lines, in order to accomplish the purposes of God for our nation.

13. We decree that AMERICA SHALL BE SAVED!

We know this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. We know the truth; therefore, we stand for truth and will NEVER be deceived!

We will NEVER stop fighting!

We will NEVER, EVER, EVER give up or give in!

We WILL take our country back.

We WILL honor the ONE TRUE GOD – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

AMERICA SHALL BE SAVED!

**Seven Mountains of Influence include media, business/finance, family, education, politics, arts/entertainment, and religion.

Religious nationalism typically cloaks itself in religious garb, even when its tenets sharply diverge from the real values of the religion it politically/culturally hijacks.

But notice the real agenda couched in lots of Bible-y language.

"energy independent"

They mean, CAPITALISM, with no responsibility for climate change

"Judeo-Christian"

They mean, WHITE.

Notice there is no reference to JESUS, whom we're meant to be following, anywhere in this "decree".

But imagine if this declaration really did reflect the heart of God and the principles in His word?

It might look something like this:

The Watchman's Prayer

By Julie Bell

As a follower of Christ, in love covenant with Jesus, I consecrate my heart first and foremost to JESUS, to serve a Kingdom that is not of this world. (John 18:36)

Acknowledging that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to JESUS (Matthew 28:18), I therefore embark on the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18) to preach the good news to the poor (Luke 4:18) heal the sick (Matthew 10:8), release the oppressed (Luke 4:18), reach the untouchables and teach them to obey all of God's commandments (Matthew 18:19) that are summed up in this commandment: "LOVE GOD, LOVE ONE ANOTHER" (Matthew 22:37-40), making disciples, that is, followers of Jesus, who will enter his rest and walk with Jesus (Matthew 11:28) - knowing that wherever I go, He is with me (Matthew 28:20).

Secondly, I agree to be a watchman over my own lips (Psalm 141:3) and my own soul, inviting the Holy Spirit to search my own heart to see if there is any offensive way in ME and guide me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139: 23-24)

I pray blessing over my own earthly nation and seek the peace and prosperity of the city where I live, even when or if it is a place of exile (Jeremiah 29:7)

As an ambassador of Christ and a citizen of a heavenly Kingdom, I surrender my "rights", and instead, I deny myself, take up my cross and follow Jesus. (Matthew 16:24)

As a Christian, I respect the governing bodies God has instituted on earth, even when they happen not to cater to my world view or do not serve my own personal privilege or interests. (Romans 13)

I acknowledge that the authorities that exist have been established by God (Romans 13:1)

This means I do not get to rebel against and overthrow the ones I don't like, who won't give preference to me and those of my particular world view.

I am an ambassador of Christ, here to serve as a vessel of his love, to share the Gospel of peace that is indeed good news for the poor, as Mary prophesied in Luke 1:51-53

WHEREAS:

·        * We, the church, are the bride of Christ, redeemed, restored and called to intimacy the fellowship with God. In Christ, we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a Holy Nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare HIS praises.

·       * Since we have been raised with Christ, we set our hearts on things above, not on earthly things, and our lives are now hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:1-3)

·       *  All authority on heaven and earth has been given to Jesus, and from this comes our impetus to go to all nations to preach the Gospel of peace to the poor, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

·       * We are Christ’s ambassadors of the message of reconciliation, compelled by Christ’s love, to no longer live for ourselves and our own interests, but for Him. (2 Corinthians 5:14-20)

·        * Through the power of God, we are subject to the influence of the Holy Spirit to perfect in our hearts his love and truth, so that in everything, we may be temples of the Holy Spirit and couriers of God’s presence.

·       * We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. We therefore acknowledge that it is not our right to mis-use Biblical concepts of spiritual warfare to gain supremacy in culture wars and political contests, or to demonize or marginalize people we disagree with, who believe and worship differently to ourselves. Our fight is in the heavenly realm, not the earthly realm, and our victory is in the unseen spiritual realm, not on the civic stage. (Ephesians 6:12) Our battle field is our own minds, hearts, habits, behaviours, relationships and lives – and we are called to be humble, to submit ourselves to Jesus, and resist the devil so that he will flee from us. (James 4:7)

WE MAKE OUR DECLARATIONS:

1.      1. We acknowledge that all earthly governments are established by God and we decree peace, wisdom, moderation, wisdom and restraint for all world leaders and the nations they are responsible for.

2.      2. We affirm that the legislative branch of our nation will make laws that are fair and just and reasonable for all citizens, not only the ones who subscribe to our particular faith and preferred ideology.

3.     3. We affirm that we, the church, do not have the final authority to determine and distinguish what rulings are constitutional, and that the laws of the land are not to be determined according to theocracy, neither do clerics have superior power to assert their world view over the judicial system.

4.      4. We declare that we stand against polarization, demonizing the ‘other’, radicalization and every kind of extremism that has prevented us being able to listen with an open heart to those most affected by injustice and oppression.

5. We declare that when our presumed God-given freedoms impinge on the rights and freedoms of other people who may not share our particular world view, we will be reasonable and not aggressive in respecting their right to believe, worship and live differently to ourselves.

6.      6. We declare that we will be salt and light in our local communities, serving and sowing generously, while respecting the right of people of different faiths and world views to have influence and representation for their communities, too.

7.      7. In the areas of media, business/finance, family, education, politics, arts/entertainment, and religion, we surrender control and supremacy and repent of any undue exceptionalism and supremacy that causes us to presume superior influence or domination over other citizens who have as much of a right to representation and participation in civic life as the church. We commit to being light and salt and having a positive witness that draws people to Christ and makes the Gospel attractive to them, rather than driving them away through our attitude of domination.

8.     8. We declare that God so loved the WHOLE world, that he gave his son Jesus, so that anyone, of any tongue and tribe and nation, who would choose to believe in Him, may experience new life in Jesus. (John 3:16) We acknowledge the heart of God for all nations and that all people in all nations have a responsibility to do justly, love, mercy and walk humbly with God.

9.      9. We affirm that our nation is not independent, but inter-dependent, and that decision that we make within our borders concerning energy consumption have repercussions for climate change and thus the safety and well-being for peoples and nations beyond our own borders, who are equally precious to God.

10.  10. We agree that every nation on earth has an interest in being secure, stable and strong and able to serve the needs of its own citizens, and that our country has no right to presume supremacy over any other. We decree that all nations will live considerately, peaceably and justly and be good neighbours to one another.

11.  11. We agree that in self-interest, our nation will not exert power, authority and rights over other people and other lands in ways that result in evil outcomes for peoples beyond our shores, with evil repercussions for our own citizens.

12.  12. We affirm that we will operate in unity, both within church and between denominations, going beyond political and ideological lines to seek compromise and consensus even with those from different political positions, ideologies, priorities, faiths and religions to our own.

13.  13. We agree that all people have a right to hear the Gospel and experience the love of God and encounter the presence of God for themselves, and acknowledge that the salvation comes only from God and through the power and witness of the Holy Spirit interacting with each individual person’s own soul, and that this cannot be enforced or legislated, lest people be forced to accept a wordly and legalistic counterfeit.

We declare the truth that we must first put our own house in order and that judgement must begin in the house of God, and we must know the truth that sets us free, and repent corporately of such sins and errors that have led us astray for the simple Gospel – such as Qanon, conspiracy theories, Trumpism, white supremacy, Great Replacement Theory, Christian nationalism, Covid denialism, climate change denialism, unfettered exploitative capitalism, and rampant sexual abuse by, and cover up by, Christian leaders throughout the church.

We will continue to stand up for justice, especially for the poor and the marginalized, and not perpetuate the sins of Sodom by indulging in pride, gluttony and prosperous ease, while ignoring the suffering of the poor and needy (Ezekiel 16:49)

We commit to listening and compromising and making concession where in the past, we have been stubborn and hard-hearted. We ask that God will give us a heart of flesh where there was once a heart of stone, and that we will work to bring healing to our nation.

We humble ourselves, submit ourselves to God, resist self-serving evil, so that the enemy might flee from us (James 4:7)

We lay our lives down.

We will follow Jesus and his lived example, as true disciples of the prince of peace and commit ourselves to the increase of his reign, government and peace (Isaiah 9:6-7)

We commit to moving beyond noisy and showy religion and worship, to hear the heart of God and allow justice and righteousness to roll on like an ever-flowing stream. (Amos 5:21-24)

We will do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).

We declare that salvation comes from God, by his love sacrifice (Revelation 7:9-10), from his heavenly Kingdom and not through Christian theocracy, achieving salvation for people from every tongue and tribe and people and language, not just America.

So that our nation, and all nations, might be saved.
